The Best Start in Martial Arts

At Catch Jiu Jitsu, our curriculum goes beyond simple, repetitive drills. We believe the best way for children to learn is by doing, not just memorizing. Our coaches set up fun, challenging scenarios that encourage children to explore, experiment, and find their own creative solutions. This unique, problem-solving approach builds natural instinct, adaptability, and true confidence that extends far beyond the mat.

What Our Parents Say

"Catch provides a safe and supportive environment where my child can grow physically stronger and build confidence. The coaches don't just teach techniques — they genuinely care about the children's emotional growth and well-being. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child — and for us, Catch is that village."

- Roxie, Parent

"The bilingual learning environment has improved my child's tolerance for frustration... Through international competitions, they meet friends from other gyms, learn from each other, improve their skills, and expand their international perspective. It's a rare and valuable learning environment."

- Chen Jia / Chen Yi, Parent

"Want your child to be brave, confident, and have great stamina without just fighting? Then come to CATCH Jiu Jitsu! They learn self-discipline while rolling, build muscle while laughing, and most importantly, they burn off so much energy that parents can finally enjoy a quiet cup of hot coffee."

- Melody, Parent

"The Catch community is highly supportive and friendly - they can achieve both as individuals and as a team - it's great! My son takes this focused fun approach to all he does now."

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are quick answers to our most common questions. For the full guide (19 topics), use the link below—it opens in your selected language.

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)?

+
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling art focused on positional control and ground fighting—not punches and kicks. Students learn technique and leverage in a safe, controlled setting. At Catch Jiu Jitsu we combine BJJ with Judo and Wrestling so kids build real grappling skills through guided practice.

How is BJJ different from Karate, Taekwondo, or other martial arts?

+
Striking arts score punches and kicks; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu emphasizes positional control and submissions—skills many parents want if a confrontation goes to the ground. Judo is closely related with different rules. Catch teaches BJJ, Judo, and Wrestling together for a complete toolkit.

What are the real benefits of BJJ for children?

+
Physically: strength, flexibility, balance, and cardio without high-impact striking. Mentally: resilience, problem-solving ("human chess"), confidence, focus, and emotional regulation. Socially: friendships and a healthy understanding of winning and losing alongside teammates.

Will BJJ make my child more aggressive?

+
Usually the opposite: kids discover strength comes from control and technique, not bullying. BJJ gives a healthy outlet for energy and teaches proportional responses. From day one we emphasize respect, sportsmanship, and protecting others—not hurting them.

Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu safe for young children?

+
Yes—when coaching is age-appropriate. Our Youth (5–8) curriculum emphasizes fundamentals and games; tapping teaches instant communication; rolling stays supervised and progresses gradually; coaches prioritize culture and control. Well-taught BJJ often compares favourably to mainstream sports for injury risk.
